Abstract

Objective: The study was conducted to evaluate the nutritional status of male cirrhotic patients with mental disorders treated as inpatients at Thai Binh psychiatric hospital in 2022.

Methods: Using tissue method Cross-sectional description of 261 cirrhosis patients with mental disorders, the study evaluated some anthropometric indices and some biochemical indices of the studied patients divided by time of cirrhosis.

Results: The average values of some anthropometric indicators of the studied patients were all at normal levels and reached the general average compared to Vietnamese men. Classifying the nutritional status of research patients according to BMI: the proportion of patients with normal nutritional status accounts for 70.9%; The rate of patients with chronic energy deficiency is 22.2% and overweight and obese is 6.9%. According to SGA, 0.4% of the patients studied were at high risk of malnutrition, while the rate of mild malnutrition was 27.8%. According to the MNA classification, the rate of study patients with malnutrition was 38.7% and at risk of malnutrition was 54.8%. The rate of anemia is 57.5%; decreased erythrocyte index was 58.2%; 3.4% decreased serum albumin and 10.3% decreased serum protein..
