Abstract

In the era of the 4.0 industrial revolution, the National Institute of Nutrition has been invested by the Ministry of Science and Technology to implement the research entitled "Research and develope a system to monitor, supervise, and provide smart nutrition advice for Vietnamese people and some groups of patients" code KC4.0-13/19-25 to build a smart personalized nutrition consultation system for Vietnamese people. This is the first time nutrition databases and knowledge have been digitized at the national scale in Vietnam. The development of this nutrition consultation system has encountered some major challenges in building a database. The personalized nutrition consultation system required a database which must be large and "deep" enough to meet the diversity of Vietnamese ethnic groups, regions, eating habits, lifestyles, and people's ability to pay, as well as different areas of the nutrition sector. Information security is also an important issue that needs to be prioritized in the process of developing a personalized nutrition consulting system. However, with the improvement of understanding, the increased demand of the community on nutrition consultation, the availability of internet infrastructure and smart handheld devices, with a full legal and policy corridor, along with the continuous development of science and technology, further research and development of personalized smart nutrition consulting applications still has a number of potential and positive effects in disease prevention as well as diseases monitoring among Vietnamese population.
