Abstract

Aims: To describe the nutritional status and its associated factors among children aged 24-59 months in Phu Luong district, Thai Nguyen province in 2022.


Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 1,966 children aged 24-59 months in 8 communes of Phu Luong district, Thai Nguyen province. Nutritional status was assessed using anthropometric methods, and a designed questionnaire was used to evaluate related factors.


Results: The study results showed that the rate of underweight malnutrition was 9.8%, stunting was 10.4%, wasting was 2.6%, and overweight - obesity was 1.7%. Household economic status was the most significant factor affecting the rates of underweight and stunting malnutrition.


Conclusion: The rates of underweight and wasting malnutrition in children aged 24-59 months in the study area remain at levels of public health significance. Household economic status is the most influential factor on the nutritional status of children in the study area.
