THE NUTRITIONAL CHARACTERISTICS AND SOME RELATED FACTORS OF GYNECOLOGICAL CANCER PATIENTS AT HANOI OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY HOSPITAL IN 2023

Abstract
Aims: To assess the nutritional status and some related factors of cancer patients at Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital in 2023.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 116 gynecological cancer patients. The patient was measured for weight, height, biochemical index test, directly interviewed PG-SGA questionnaire and surveyed on the diet using the 24-hour ration questionnaire method.
Results: Based on the BMI classification, the rate of chronic energy deficiency was 4.3%, while the rate of overweight-obesity was 17.2%. According to the PG-SGA method, the rate of patients at risk of malnutrition or malnutrition (PG-SGA B) was 11.2%.
The rate of malnutrition varied depending on the type of cancer, marital status, education and support from family and society. The 24-hours diet energy was undifferentiated from dissimilar kind of cancers.
Conclusion: The main nutritional problems in the patients were anemia, PG-SGA B malnutrition, and overweight-obesity. Some factors associated to PG-SGA B malnutrition including cancer location, educational level, marital status, and family and social support need to be confirmed in cohort studies.
