NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF PATIENTS WITH HEPATITIS HOSPITALIZED IN THE GENERAL HOSPITAL OF THAI BINH CITY IN 2017

Abstract
The study aims to assess nutritional status of patients with hepatitis and to select appropriate nutritional assessment methods for those patients. Methods: A prospective,
cross-sectional study was conducted through interviews, weight and height measurement
of 124 inpatient hepatitis patients in Internal Medicine Department, General Hospital, Thai
Binh City in 2017. Results: The prevalence of malnutrition defined by BMI was 4.8%;
78.2% was normal and 16.9% was overweight; meanwhile, the prevalence of malnutrition
defined by SGA was 26.6%; and 71.8% was normal. Conclusions: The prevalence of malnutrition in patients with hepatitis was high, especially in those patients with alcoholic
hepatitis. Screening, assessment and routine nutrition interventions are needed in clinical
departments, especially for diseases at high risk of malnutrition
