EVALUATION OF NUTRITION TREATMENT COMPLIANCE AFTER CONSULTING IN TYPE 2 DIABETES PATIENTS IN HUE CENTRAL HOSPITAL

Abstract

The study was carried out on 126 type 2 diabetes patients that were treated inpatient in
Hue Central Hospital. Those patients were directly consulted about nutrition treatment at
the first day of hospital admission. And after 15 days of follow-up, a cross-section study
was made to compare before and after intervention. Objectives: To evaluate nutrition treatment compliance after consulting in type 2 diabetes patients. The results show that: The
patients changed nutrition habits in a positive way with a significant difference compared
to before consultation (p <0.05). There were significantly decrease (p <0.05) in frequency
of regular use some foods with high glycemic index from refined carbohydrates and sweet
fruits, reduction of high cholesterol food consumption, reduction of the use of harmful
beverages, and an increase of the use of protein-rich foods.
