CURRENT NUTRITION KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE AMONG CHILDREN WITH KIDNEY DISEASES AND/OR THEIR MAIN CAREGIVERS AT VIETNAM NATIONAL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

Abstract
A cross-sectional study method was used to determine the condition of knowledge,
practice about nutrition of 50 children with kidney diseases and/or their main caregivers
at nephrology-dialysis department of Vietnam National children’s hospital in 2012. The
results showed that: Almost main caregivers lacked of nutrition knowledge and practices on caring children with kidney diseases. The knowledge about nutrition for children
with kidney diseases was very poor, 60% of the subjects was classified as low level, 20%
medium, and 20% good. Nutrition practices of main caregivers of children with kidney
disease were very poor, too; 76% of the subjects was classified as having poor practices,
8% at medium level, and 16% at good level.
