Abstract

Aims: To assess dietary quality and explore factors associated with the diet quality of adults in Quang Dien District, Hue City..

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 819 adults aged 18 - 59 years living in Quang Dien district, Hue city.

Results: Most adults tended to consume foods associated with a higher risk of non-communicable diseases (as indicated by a non-compliance rate of 82.1% for the NCD-risk score). In contrast, 52.5% met the recommended level for the NCD-protect score, which reflects the intake of foods that help prevent NCDs. Only 36.4% achieved the recommended level for the Global Dietary Recommendations (GDR) score.

The factors related to the diet quality of the study subjects include gender, occupation, and chronic diseases, with a significance level of p<0.05.

Conclusion: Most participants did not meet the recommended diet quality. Therefore, effective nutritional interventions are necessary to improve diet quality and reduce the risk of diseases in the community.
