THE NUTRITION STATUS OF GESTATIONAL MELITUS DIABETES OUTPATIENTS IN TU DU HOSPITAL IN 2019

Abstract

A prospective study method was used to determine characteristics of gestational diabetes,
including epidemiological ones, prenatal history, glycemic index of oral glucose
tolerance test and pre -pregnancy nutritional status of 170 patients who examined and
received outpatient treatment at Tu Du hospital in 2019. The results showed that the
prevalence of GDM patients in the age group of 21-34 was accounted for 77.5%. The
education from high school and above was 80.6%. The occupation of patients was
mainly employees, accounting for 40.6%. The prevalence of GDM patients having
history of cesarean section and genetic factors of diabetes mellitus were 43.3% and
33.3%, respectively. The prevalence of underweight (BMI<18.5), normal weight (BMI
18.5 – 24.9) and overweight (BMI ≥ 25) among pregnant women was 10%, 78.8% and
11.2%, respectively. According to recommendation of IOM at the time of nutritional
counseling, the average of weight gain of GDM patients was 9.6 ± 3.7kg and the average
of weight gain per week of GDM patients was 0.57 ± 0.2kg. The average fasting
blood glucose was 4.8 ± 0.6 mmol/L, blood glucose after 1 hour of glucose tolerant was
10.1 ± 1.5 mmol/L, blood glucose after 2 hours was 9.2 ± 1.2 mmol/L.
