NUTRITIONAL STATUS AND DIET OF CANCER PATIENTS WITH CHEMOTHERAPY IN CENTRAL OBSTETRICS HOSPITAL IN 2019-2020

Abstract

The study aimed to assess the nutritional status and describe the actual diet of cancer
patients with chemotherapy in Central Obstetrics Hospital in 2019-2020. Method:
using cross-sectional descriptive study design to investigate 100 gynecological cancer
patients with chemotherapy. The patients were measured for weight, height, biochemical
index test, directly interviewed with PG-SGA questionnaire and surveyed on the
diet using the 24-hour recall method. Results: According to the PG-SGA toolkit, the
proportion of patients at risk of malnutrition (PG-SGA B and PG-SGA C) was 31%.
Most of the study subjects did not meet the recommended requirements for energy-generating
substances, vitamins as well as some minerals, specifically 78% of patients did
not meet the demand for energy. The proportion of patients whose diets did not meet
the recommended requirements for iron, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin C, A, B1, B2,
PP, B12 was 93%, 95%, 48%, 45%, 77%, 55%, 89%, 63%, 86%, respectively. Conclusion:
The proportion of gynecological patients at risk of moderate and severe malnutrition
was 31%. The actual diet of patients with gynecological cancer mostly did not
meet the recommended requirements for energy and nutrients.
