Abstract

A cross-sectional descriptive method was used to determine the nutritional status of
203 thyroid cancer patients preparing for treatment I-131 at the Department of Nuclear
Medicine and Oncology in the National Hospital of Endocrinology in 2020-2021, applying
questionnaires and anthropometric indicators and the PG SGA toolkit. Results:
The study population had an average age of 45 ± 12 years, with women accounting for
86.7%. The prevalence of malnutrition classified by PG-SGA, BMI, and middle upper
arm circumference were 6.4%, 2.5%, and 3.9%, respectively. The prevalence of overweight
was 23.1% and obesity was 2.0% by BMI. 39.4% of the study population had
a body fat percentage higher than the normal, of which the rate was 70.4% in men and
34.7% in women.
