Abstract
Research into the role of the human microbiome suggests that parts of it may be responsible for development of a range of diseases such as obesity and diabetes, while other parts of this microbiome may reduce the risk of developing such conditions. Hence, it is becoming increasingly evident that parts of the microbiome may be involved in much more than just infectious disease.
