Abstract

Objectives: To assess the malnutrition status of patients with pneumonia in Pediatrics
Hospital of Vinh Phuc province in peritod of 2014-2015. Subjects and methods: We
measured weight, length and height of 374 patients from 6 to 60 months with pneumonia
in Pediatrics Hospital of Vinh Phuc province in peritod of 2014-2015 to assess the nutritional status by anthropometric method. By Examning and Interviewing to assess the trend
of Malnutrition following SGA methods. Results: By anthropometry: SDR was 20,6%,
in which SDH was stunted, SDD was underweight, stunting was 21%; 20,6%; 9,9%. The
risk of Malnutrition by SGA was 43,3%, significantly higher than the anthropometric
method (20,6%), the risk of mild to moderate Malnutrition and severeMalnutritionwas
39,8% and 3,5%. Compared to the SGA indicator, early detection of Malnutrition risk: 37,3%
of children without anthropometry were at risk for SGA; 15,6% of malnourished children
fall into the high risk group for SGA. Conclusions: The prevalence of malnutrition risk
among SGA children differs from the anthropometric malnutrition rate. We ask to use SGA
methods to assess the nutritional status of pneumonia children at the hospital.
