Abstract
Objectives: To describe the characteristics of metabolic syndrome in women with BMI > 23kg/m2 aged 45-60 years old in Hanoi in 2016.
Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study on 92 women with BMI > 23kg/m2 from 45-60 years old in Hanoi 2016.
Results: The prevalence of metabolic syndrome in women with BMI > 23kg/m2 aged 40-65 years old in Hanoi in 2016 was 62%. The proportion of women with 3 components of metabolic syndrome was the highest, accounting for 42.4%. The proportion of women aged 50-65 years with high glucose, elevated triglycerides, hypertension and metabolic syndrome was higher than that of women aged 40-49 years. In the group of urban women, the mean HDL value (1.1 ± 0.2 mmol/L) was lower than that of suburban women (1.3 ± 0.2 mmol/L), the difference was significant. statistical meaning. The rate of decrease in HDL of urban women (83.7%) is higher than that of suburban women (60.5%), the difference is statistically significant.
Conclusion: The prevalence of metabolic syndrome in women with BMI > 23kg/m2 aged 40-65 years old in Hanoi in 2016 was high. The ratio of 3 components of metabolic syndrome is the highest. The 50-65 age group had a higher prevalence of metabolic syndrome factors than the 40-49 age group. The average HDL-C value of urban women is lower than that of suburban women and the rate of HDL-C reduction in urban women is higher than that of suburban women, the difference is statistically significant.
