Abstract

Objectives: A cross-sectional study was conducted to assess dietary intake of stunted
children in 2 communes of Yen Son district, Tuyen Quang Province.
Method: Dietary intakes of 187 stunted children 24 to 60 months of age were collected by 24 hours recall
method.
Results: 21.9% of stunted subjects met the recommended daily allowance (RDA)
of energy intake; 84.0% met RDA of protein intake; 5.4% met RDA of lipid intake; 11.2%
met RDA of vitamin A; 42.3% met RDA of vitamin B1; 5.4% met RDA of calcium intake;
42.8% met RDA of zinc intake; and 49.2% met RDA of iron intake. There is a need to
have a proper solution for improving lipid and micronutrients intake in the diet of the
stunted children.
