NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF HYPERTENSIVE PATIENTS TREATED IN CLINICAL CARDIOVASCULAR DEPARTMENT OF THAI BINH GENERAL HOSPITAL

Abstract
An observation cross-sectional study was carried out in the clinical cardiovascular department of Thai Binh General Hospital from February to April, 2019 at the point of hospital admission. A total of 131 hypertensive patients were selected by intentional sampling
method. Objectives: To assess nutritional status of hypertensive patients treated in the
clinical cardiovascular department of Thai Binh General Hospital. The results showed that
64.1% of patients had controlled blood pressure in real life. Among hypertensive patients,
4.6% had chronic energy deficiency, 20.6% had overweight and obesity. The rate of overweight and obesity was higher (36.2%) in the group that did not controlled blood pressure
with p < 0.05. 62.6% decreased serum albumin, and 17.6% had anemia. The proportion
of patients had increased cholesterol was 37.4%, in which man (50.8%) had a higher rate
than women (24.2%) with statistical significance (p < 0.05) and 61.8% increased triglyceride in which man had a higher rate than women (70.8% and 53.0%: p < 0.05).
