SITUATION OF FOOD SAFETY MANAGEMENT AND CONDITIONS IN THANH HOA PROVINCE, 2018

Abstract

A cross-sectional study was conducted in 18 communes, wards and towns in 9 districts/
cities representing 3 regions of Thanh Hoa. This study aimed to describe the situation
of food safety management and conditions in Thanh Hoa province. The results showed
that food safety conditions had been paid more attention and facilitated by local governments. The province had 76,275 establishments producing, processing and trading
food. In which, the province managed 3.8%, districts managed 21.2% and communes
managed 75.0% according to the decentralization. Agricultural sector managed 66.0%,
while health sector did 30.9% and Industry and Trade sector managed the lowest of 3.7%.
The number of establishments having right food safety conditions at the provincial level
accounted for 95.3% (Health sector: 100%; Agriculture sector: 92.8%; and Industry and
Trade sector: 92.1%). Establishments had appropriate food safety conditions at district
level accounting for 61.8%, and at commune level accounting for 79.7%.
