Abstract

Aims: To assess the current status of breakfast skipping and identify several factors associated with breakfast skipping among students at Bac Binh Lower Secondary School, Lap Thach District, Vinh Phuc Province in 2025.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 337 students at Bac Binh Lower Secondary School. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire designed to obtain information on general characteristics, the prevalence of breakfast skipping, and associated factors among students.

Results: The prevalence of breakfast skipping was 89,9%. The most common reasons for skipping breakfast were lack of habit, not feeling hungry, and the desire to lose weight. There was a statistically significant association of the breakfast skipping with distance from home to school and (p=0.001) and sleep duration (p= 0.01).

Conclusion: Breakfast skipping was predominant among the studied students. It is necessary to strengthen nutrition education and communication, and to enhance collaboration between schools and families to promote adequate sleep habits and support breakfast consumption among students.
