CONFIRMING THE PRECISION AND TRUENESS OF THE TOTAL ANTIOXIDANT STATUS TEST ON THE BECKMAN COULTER AU480 CHEMISTRY ANALYZER

Abstract
Aims: To confirm the precision and trueness of the plasma total antioxidant status on the Beckman Coulter AU480 Chemistry Analyzer at the Department of Biochemistry and Nutritional Metabolism, National Institute of Nutrition.
Methods: Experimental study was conducted according to the CLSI EP15-A3 guideline, using patient plasma samples with two concentration levels to evaluate the precision and internal control material of Randox to evaluate the trueness.
Results: The laboratory standard deviations of the two concentration levels were SwL=0,0367 mmol/L and SwL=0,0447 mmol/L, respectively, which were both less than the manufacturer’s announcement (σwL=0,039 mmol/L and σwL=0,045 mmol/L, respectively); the average value obtained for quality control was 1,812 mmol/L, within the verification interval.
Conclusion: The precision and trueness of the total antioxidant status assay on the Beckman Coulter AU480 Chemistry Analyzer is consistent with the manufacturer’s announcement.
