STATUS OF ADMISSIONS AND RECRUITMENT NEEDS FOR BACHELOR OF NUTRITION IN VIETNAM

Abstract
Aims: To describe the admission status during the period of 2013–2023 and the recruitment demand for the Bachelor of Nutrition in the period of 2024–2030 in Vietnam.
Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted on all universities approved by the Ministry of Education and Training to train the Bachelor of Nutrition and public health units under the Ministry of Health (63 departments of health and 34 central hospitals).
Results: Seven public and five private universities have trained the Bachelor of Nutrition; and 907 Bachelors of Nutrition have graduated for 10 years of training implementation (2013–2023). The admission score for Bachelor of Nutrition ranged from 17.7 to 23.0 points; the admission rate was 68.2%. The recruitment demand for Bachelor of Nutrition from public health units is 1961 people in the period of 2024–2030.
Conclusion: Training Bachelor of Nutrition in Vietnam has increased the number of training facilities, expanded the training area from the North to the South, from the public to the private system, and increased number of graduates holding Bachelor of Nutrition each year. However it has only met the human resource need in public health units.
