KNOWLEDGE OF OSTEOPOROSIS AND SOME RELEVANT FACTORS AMONG POST ORTHOPEDIC TRAUMA SURGERY PATIENTS

Abstract
Knowledge of osteoporosis affected directly to the prevention and treatment this disease. The post orthopedic trauma surgery patients who had high risk of osteoporosis. Objective: To describe the knowledge of osteoporosis and some factors effected on the knowledge of osteoporosis of post orthopedic trauma surgery patients. Methods: Cross sectional study conducted on 115 internal patients aged 14 to 82 years old.Osteoporosis questionnaire (OPQ) was used to evaluate the knowledge of osteoporosis patients by interviewed. Results: The average of total point about knowledge was 5.90 ± 4.78. This is significantly different between age, sex, labor, information resourse, medical family history and using milk habit. Conclusion: The general knowledge of osteoporosis was quite good and had highest right answering; The lowest right answering was related to treatment of osteoporodis, therefore, need to improveg consultance about the knowledge of osteoporosis, especially in knowledge of treatment and complication for the post orthopedic trauma surgery patients.
