NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF PATIENTS WITH TYPE II DIABETES AT THE ENDOCRINE – NEUROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT, HUNG YEN GENERAL HOSPITAL, IN 2016

Abstract

The study was conducted using epidemiological method, describing in a cross sectional
survey of 160 patients with type 2 diabetes aged 30-60 years old at the Endocrine and
Neurological Department in Hung Yen General Hospital to assess the nutritional status of
the object. The study found that the average weight of subjects was 54.9 kg for men and
51.8 kg for women. The average height of the subjects was 164.7 cm for men and 154.8
cm for women. High waist and high ratio WHR was more common in females than males
and was more common in older patients. The difference in these 2 indices between sexes
and 2 age groups was statistically significant (p <0.05). According to the SGA assessment,
18.1% of subjects treated with diabetes were at risk of malnutrition and 2.5% were actually
malnourished. The malnutrition risk in men was higher than that of women and was found
predominantly in patients between the age of 30 and 50. Malnutrition actually occured in
both age groups at a rate of 2.5%.
