CADMIUM CONTAMINATION STATUS IN FISH AND FISH POND WATER IN 6 COMMUNES OF VU THU DISTRICT, THAI BINH PROVINCE
Main Article Content
Abstract
Research was conducted to determine the status of cadmium (Cd) contamination in
water and fish in 117 ponds in 6 communes of Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province (53
circulating pond and 64 uncirculating ponds). The results showed that: Contamination
level in fish of bottom level were 14.87 ± 8.73 ppb (parts per billion) and fish of surface
level was 12.86 ± 8.08 ppb with p <0.05; Cd in water of the bottom level was 0.42 ± 1.12
ppb and surface water was 0.23 ± 0.39 ppb. The average Cd content of the fish in the
cramped ponds was 15.12 ± 8,91 ppb and in circulating ponds was 12.05 ± 6.95 ppb with
p <0.05. The Cd content in cramped pond water was 0.31 ± 0.55 ppb and in the circulating
pond was 0.30 ± 0.57 ppb with p> 0.05. Concentration of Cd in fish in average dry season
was 14.96 ± 9.5 ppb and rainy season was 12.25 ± 5.97 ppb. Cd concentration in water in
the dry season was 0.42 ± 0.85 ppb and the rainy season was 0.16 ± 0.3 ppb with p <0.05.
