Abstract

A cross-sectional study of 370 patients aged 18-85 years in clinical departments was
conducted to understand their nutritional knowledge and some related factors in Ha Dong
General Hospital during Feb-Apr 2017.
Results: The percentage of patients with good
nutritional knowledge was low, only 24.9% of the total. The proportion of patients who
received nutrition counseling was 61.1%. The patient's education and occupation are related to their nutritional knowledge and the use of nutrition consulting service. These
rates among patients with higher education and working as workers or traders were statistical higher than those in patients with lower education and working as farmers. (p
<0.05).
Recommendations: It is important to strengthen collaboration between clinical
and nutritional departments to provide nutritional communication and counselling, thus
to minimize the treatment costs and shorten treatment time for patients.
