KNOWLEDGE OF VEGETABLE GROWERS ON USING PLANT PROTECTION CHEMICALS IN VU PHUC AND VU CHINH COMMUNES, THAI BINH CITY IN 2017

Abstract
A descriptive, cross-sectional study was implemented among 400 vegetable growers
to describe their knowledge on using plant protection chemicals (PPCs) in Vu Phuc and
Vu Chinh commune, Thai Binh province in 2017. The results showed that the majority of
the vegetable growers knew the PPCs were substances used for killing insects (over
98.0%). However, the percentage of vegetable growers understanding the importance of
fully protecting methods when spraying chemicals was very low, only 8.0% among those
at secondary education level and above and 8.1% among those at lower levels. The percentage
of vegetable growers understanding safety principles when using PPCs in the
group having higher educational levels was greater than that of the remaining groups
(83.4% and 68.9%, respectively).
