Abstract

The study was conducted on 20 mothers of children aged 3 to 5 years old in Minh Khai,
Vu Thu, Thai Binh, in order to change the practice of using iron and zinc fortified rice
(IZnFR) with Trial of Improved Practice (TIP) method. After 2 weeks of the trial, using
household visit counseling method, following behavior change stages, the results showed
that there was high compliance with 100% of mothers using IznFR in family meals. For
the feasibility of the practice, 100% of mothers cooked IZnFR as normal rice. Organoleptic
features of rice fortified with iron and zinc are accepted by most mothers with all four parameters as color, smell, taste, and texture. Advantages: decent color, homogeneity, clean
and less broken seeds. Disadvantages: less aromatic, less tasty than the normal rice used.
The solution is to "add less water" and cook 30 minutes before the meal, mix premix with
a different types of rice.
