Abstract

Malnutrition, particularly stunting, and anemia are still public health concern, influencing child growth and development. These are prevalent in mountainous areas in the
north of Vietnam. A cross- sectional study was conducted in 9 communes of Lao cai, Lai
chau and Ha giang province. Children aged 0-24 months were measured weight and height
and those from 6 to 11 months old were taken blood sample to test Hb level. Underweight
rate was 17.1%, stunting rate were 20% and wasting was 7.6%. Anemia rate of children
6-11 months was 45.8%.
