Abstract

Physical activity questionnaire (PAQ) is usually utilized to investigate physical activity
(PA) patterns.
Objective: This study was conducted to assess the reliability of a constructed PAQ in primary school children. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted using the constructed PAQ. 166 children and their parents were interviewed in the
first round and 163 children and their parents were interviewed the second round, which
was one week from the first one.
Results: The PAQ was at acceptable degree of reliability
for assessing the total PA and sedentary activity (SA) surveyed and the participation of
children in the PA and SA (Cronbach alpha >0.7). R Pearson correlation for the total time
children took part the PA and SA and their level of intensity in participating PA between
two interview sessions ranged from 0.6 to >0.9.
Conclusion: The PAQ has reliability in
determining the participation of primary school children in PA and SA, duration children
took part in PA and SA, and their intensity level in participating PA in one week. Consequently, the PAQ can assess the energy expenditure of primary school children in taking
part in PA.
