ROLE OF AMINO ACIDES IN NUTRITIONAL TREATMENT

Abstract

For more than a century, amino acids have been discovered with many physiological
roles and functions for living organisms. Recently, amino acids have been confirmed positive roles in supporting for nutritional treatment. Essential amino acids, particularly
BCAA, are indispensable to support the treatment of patients with kidney disease at various stages. Non - essential amino acids also play important roles in therapeutic nutrition,
such as glutamine, which is effective in enhancing nutrition and improving immunity for
leukemia patients; In particular, glutamate that is used in diet via the form of MSG increases gastric secretion, promotes and speeds up the digestion of food and improves the
quality of life of elderly patients through changing their behavior during eating. Besides,
glutamate also helps maintain the palatability for the salt-reducing diet, thereby not only
supporting patients to follow better the salt – reducing diet, but also contributing to the
prevention of healthy people from risk of chronic non-communicable diseases.
