MALNUTRITION STATUS AMONG KINDERGARTEN CHIDLREN IN VU THU DICTRICT, THAI BINH PROVINCE

Abstract
The objective of the study was to measure the prevalence of malnutrition among children aged 37-60 months at some kindergartens in Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province.
A study was conducted at 3 kindergartens of 3 selected communes and towns in Vu
Thu district, Thai Binh. A total of 445 children aged 37-60 months were examined in
September 2019 and were measured again in December 2019. Child malnutrition was
classified by Z-score of weigh for age, height for age and weight for height according
to WHO 2007. The results of the study showed that the percentage of stunting was very
high (24.3%), underweight was 12.8%, overweight was 2.5% and wasting was 3.1%.
The number of underweight children was recovered by 84.4% but the incidence rate
was 12,3%. The recovering rate of stunting and incidence rate of stunting was 73.7%
and 23.5%, respectively. The recovering rate and incidence rate of wasting was 100%
and 3.1%, respectively. There was no difference in weight gain and height gain of children between groups of mothers who were farmers and who were officials and workers
