NUTRITION STATUS AND CARDIOVASCULAR COMPLICATIONS OF DIEBETES OUTPATIENTS IN THAIBINH IN 2019

Abstract
The study aimed to nnvestigate nutritrion status and cardiovascular complications
of type 2 diabetes outpatients in Thaibinh. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted in December 2019. We selected the sample of 30 communes/wards respresenting three regions of Thaibinh province, including 2 wards of Thaibinh city, 8
coastal communes and 20 suburban communes. In each commune, 10 type 2 diabetes
patients was purposely selected for the study, and a total of 300 outpatients was then
recruited. Results: the prevalence of chronic energy deficiency and overweight was
5% and 35%, respectively. Among patients with cardiovascular complications, 75.7%
had hypertension, the prevelance of heart failure and coronary artery spasm was approximately 30%. The multivariate logistic regression showed that older age and
longer duration of diabetes were associtated with higher prevelance of cardiovascular complications (p<0.05). Conclusion: 75.7% of type 2 diabetes had hypertension,
29.7% had heart failure and 33.7% had coronaty spasm complication. There was a
relationship between age, duration of diabetes and cardiovascular complications.
