Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: A cross-sectional study was conducted to assess the dietary intake of
children with kidney disease at Vietnam National Children’s Hospital. Method: Dietary intake of 50 children aged 4-15 years with kidney disease was collected by 24
hours recall method. Results: 70.6%; 59.0%; 56.5%; 60.7% of kidney disease subjects
met the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of energy intake for age group of 4-6;
7-9; 10-12;13-15 years old, respectively. 170.8 % in age group 4-6; 130.8% in age
group 7-9; 94.7% in age group 10-12; 100.5% in age group 13-15 met RDA of protein
intake; non of them met RDA of animal protein/total protein ratio and lipid intake;
60% met RDA of the vitamin A, calcium, iron intake in almost age groups; 136.7% in
age group 4-6; 120.3% in age group 7-9; 49.4% in age group 10-12 and 68.7% in age
group 13-15 met RDA of phosphorus intake. It is needed to have a proper solution for
improving energy, animal protein, lipid and micronutrients in the diet of children with
kidney disease.
