Abstract

Dialysis is a widely used method for kidney replacement, but patients may experience
problems such as: nutrient loss during dialysis, and reduction of nutrients in the diet.
Examination of some hematological and biochemical indices is important to assess malnutrition, anemia, reduced iron reserves for treatment as well as adjustment of the diet
for patients.
Objectives: To describe some hematological and biochemical indices of
patients with chronic renal failure on dialysis in Dien Bien General Hospital in 2018.
Subjects: 87 patients with chronic renal failure on dialysis from August to December
2018 at the Department of Nephrology of Dien Bien General Hospital. Methods: epidemiological studies, cross-sectional analysis.
Results: Among 87 patients, the proportion
of patients with albumin deficiency was 14.9%, anemia was 78.2% (mainly mild anemia), the proportion of patients with iron deficiency and low iron stores was 100% and
63.2%.
Conclusion: The detection of anemia, iron stores and albumin reduction plays
an important role in the diagnosis of malnutrition and anemia in dialysis patients, thus
helping treatment as well as dietary management for patients.
